Steps needed to control Dengue virus
Our poor Pakistani nation is countering another menace of dengue virus nowadays which is rapidly spreading in our country particularly in the big cities. We can see the number of patients increasing in the hospitals day by day. All steps taken by the government seem effective less. If the situation continues I fear dengue virus can spread in the entire country. The government is trying to control this virus by all means such as fumigation in the streets and roads etc but this virus is spreading and more and more people are getting affected. There is a need to make joint efforts by government and local communities to control this virus from further spreading.
I would like to suggest some precautionary steps to avoid from dengue virus. First of all it is very important to start a campaign about dengue virus and people should be made aware the causes as how it spreads. The most obvious symptoms are high fever and sever body pain, itching and red spots, bleeding from nose and teeth, sever pain behind the eyes and neck. As precautions, properly cover the pots having water e.g. bath buckets and drums etc. Dengue attacks between 6 pm and 9 am and 4 pm to 10 pm. If these symptoms occur, consult your doctor without any delay. Do not try use dispirin or bruphin instead patient can be given paracetamol. According to a new research few drops of lemons in apple juice can also reduce high fever.
Dengue virus has spread rapidly especially since the monsoon begun. With the increasing water sheds and ponds the number of mosquitoes has enormously increased. The other main cause of spreading the virus is open garbage scattered outside the houses and streets even in the posh areas has doubled the spread of dengue virus. This open rubbish along road sides usually in stagnant water has increased the virus. People should be made aware to keep their houses and surroundings clean and fumigated so that more people could be saved from this deadly virus.

Aliabad Hunza Incident Demands Justice
Hunza is considered to be the most peaceful area in Pakistan but the recent killing of two innocent persons at Aliabad Hunza tarnished the peace in the region by our incapable police who opened fire at a small crowd who were protesting for their demands.
The cruel incident in such a peaceful valley has put several questions! Can police feel the sufferings of the bereaved families? Why our police have become so senseless? This incident could have been averted by controlling anger and emotions. The demonstrators even did not take law in their hands. They were only protesting for the fulfilling of their demands promised by the government last year.
The question is why our police and law enforcement agencies instead of protecting the people tend to kill innocent people in way or other? It seems our government has given police freehand to do whatever they want? How long will such untoward incidents continue by the hands of police? Why our inept police are not given proper training as how to control a mob and protect the lives and property of people. London riots are a great example for our corrupt law enforcement agencies as how the Scotland yard in the UK controlled the entire situation without losing the lives of people.
Thanks to print and electronic media particularly “Dunya TV’ for bringing footage of the incident to light. I urge the government and Chief Justice of Pakistan to take serious action against the perpetrators and police officials involved in this heinous incident at Aliabad Hunza. They should be brought to justice without any dissemination like it did in Sarfraz Shah case in Karachi. I believe that the file of this tragic incident will not be closed like in Sialkot incident.

Poor Road Conditions in Gilgit
Gilgit is considered to be the most beautiful part of Pakistan in terms of its geographical location, pleasant weather, clean drinking water and delicious fruits.
On the other hand, lack of attention by the local government, the development work in Gilgit is considerably very slow. The most recent example is the RCC Bridge in Gilgit which took more than 7 years to complete. Similarly there are other projects which are being implemented very slowly.
Shahrah-e-Quaid-e-Azam is the main road in Gilgit but the condition of this road at various places has been dilapidated by unnecessary speed breakers and digging for water pipe lines etc by the residents on both sides without getting prior permission. The condition of the road particularly near the Public Chowk Jutial is deplorable and needs immediate attention. Constant flow of water on this site with the chocking of so-called water channels built along the road side is enormously eroding the road which has made life very difficult for pedestrians’ and particularly for vehicles but the city government does not seem to bother to take notice of this considerable issue and deliberately ignore this menace.
In addition, Noor colony Jutiyal is a newly established area in Gilgit but lack of proper planning for link roads and water by the government people living in this area are facing a great shortage of irrigation and drinking water. Taking advantage of this situation some narrow-minded people are creating problems for the residents in this area blocking the drinking water by putting stones and plastics in the pipe lines to get more water for themselves. The government has not made any proper water distribution system in this area resulting acute shortage of drinking water in this locality. Another big issue the residents of this locality are facing is the narrow mindset of some people who have built houses along with narrow link roads which has made vehicles impassable when giving side to other vehicle coming from the opposite direction. If our government was serious it could have forcibly implemented plans and bound people to construct houses leaving a required distance from the link roads.
I urge the concerned authorities to take serious notice of such irregularities and get the people rid of these problems particularly created by narrow-minded people and should take stern action against violators and improve the conditions of roads immediately.

No Traffic Rules in Pakistan!
If we look at the random traffic on roads particularly in a big city like Lahore it shows that there are no traffic rules particularly for police in Pakistan. When we see smoke emitting motorcycles, old rickshaws and other vehicles it seems that our government seems to be helpless in controlling this menace or deliberately ignore such traffic issues. Consequently such dangerous vehicles play with the health and lives of innocent people.
Even the posh areas of Defence in Lahore have no exception. I did not understand the role of our traffic police despite watching all this can’t do anything rather they seem to look for innocent people to fine for any mistakes whereas they ignore other dangerous vehicles and motorcycles which are emitting excessive smoke and alls this happens in front of our traffic police.
I am worried as how long will this go on. There is another menace everyone can easily notice that drivers and motorcyclists usually horn their vehicles unnecessarily that gives a very bad impression and shows how much we are uncivilized. We have no concern for others. In our country road accidents are very common as generally people are not aware of the traffic rules and they take lives of other people and there is no check on such accidents. In our country everyone tries to find short-cuts and therefore Pakistan is far behind from other countries in maintaining good governance rather it is considered to be an uncivilized country.

This festival is performed in the same way as the seeding festival. The villagers thank “Allah” for the bounty that they are going to harvest their crops. For this, it means lively music (drum beats), dancing and eating on top of sharing the happiness with one another.
Nowroz Festival
Nawroz, also spelled as Noruz, is actually Iranian New Year’s celebration, observed by Shia and Ismaili Muslims around the world. Nawroz means a new day and is celebrated in a number of countries, which include Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, India, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, and Tajikistan. The celebration is thousands of years old,
The celebration of Nawroz begins exactly in 21 of March; the first day of spring is lasted for several weeks. It involves many traditions and rituals.
The Shandur Polo Festival:
The exact place where polo originated is covered in mists and perhaps myths of the history of Western and Central Asia, but there is no doubt that this region in general is its birthplace and with some even going so far as to so’ that it was in the Gilgit-Baltistan, and Baltistan’s town of Shigar in particular, where it all started.
Shandur is on a spur of the old Silk Route. It has been the site of a fierce rivalry between the polo teams from the old fortress town of Chitral in Pakistan’s Northwest Frontier Province (NWFP) and the ancient caravanserai and now modern city of Gilgit in the Northern Areas.
Babusar polo tournament was organized from August 5-7, 2008 by the Tourism Department Gilgit-Baltistan, Gilgit at the highest polo ground in the world at Babusar (13,812 ft) at the highest Polo group of the world.
The festival also includes Tug of war; Tent pegging, Paragliding, Photo Exhibition, Gemstone Exhibition, Handicrafts Exhibition, Trekking, Horse Riding and camp Fire.
The Babusar Pass is located in Diamer District of Gilgit-Baltistan .It is located at a distance of 35 kms from KKH near Chilas, which takes 2 hours drive on road journey to Babusar. The Babusar Pass can also be accessed through Mansehra, via Kaghan Valley covering a distance of 200kms.
Religious Extremism and Tension
The religious tension in Gilgit-Baltistan has crippled the whole area since 1988. Although these areas are culturally rich but law and order situation has badly damaged its tourism and economy as mostly populations livelihood was dependent on tourism. Some anti social elements in the name of religion are trying to root terrorism in the entire country. Such elements are trying to sabotage the peace of the area so that no development and advancement could be made in these areas. The government seems to have failed in overcoming this menace. However, people are expecting that sooner or later they will get rid of religious extremism which is fanning terrorism in the country.
Poor Tax System in Pakistan!
The ongoing corruption and terrorism in Pakistan indicates that Pakistan has plunged into anarchy and chaos. Law and order and poor tax system has put no stone unturned to further aggravate the situation.
A country cannot be stable unless its tax collection system is streamlined but unfortunately Pakistan seems to have failed in implementing effective and strong tax collection policy. The tax collectors are themselves corrupt so how Pakistan can make progress. We can see that our corrupt bureaucracy and politicians have adopted tactics to evade from taxes.
However, a large number of Pakistanis still want to pay tax but their concern is the corrupt elements who are grabbing a huge amount in the name of tax collection. The situation of paying tax in private and non-governmental organizations is vice versa! The government has recently started collecting a huge amount in the name of tax per month from the salaries of the employees whose income is meager to make ends meet. I don’t know why the government has started collecting tax from employees of such organizations in the name of so-called tax whereas the collection from its government organizations and business community is inactive.
Of course, if a person is getting a handsome salary then it makes sense to collect tax. However if government is really sincere in bringing transparency in tax collection the people of Pakistan will really support them but there should be a fair and equal system applicable to all in the country without any discrimination.
The government should review its vague policy and stop collecting money from low income employees and instead should focus on real tax evaders to save Pakistan from further economic instability.

Musharraf’s New Political Party!
General Pervez Musharraf ex-president of Pakistan launched a new political party in London with the name All Pakistan Muslim League. All sensible and moderate people welcomed his new political party and hoped that it will play a significant role in the scenario of Pakistan particularly in the ongoing sever economic crises and wave of terrorism.
It is fact that the Musharraf regime was considered to be the most powerful government and during his regime the economic situation was not as bad as it is now. He put his maximum efforts to social and economic development of Pakistan. In his first speech as party leader he admitted that he made some mistakes at the end of his regime despite success but he also explained that he did all this for the sake of the country and there was a long history behind his all decisions. However, people should not take Musharraf’s admittance as his weakness and this is first time in the history of Pakistan that a leader has publically admitted his mistakes and loopholes. He, however, has vowed to bring Pakistan out of the present crises and deal with the enemies with iron hand. Taking a decision to launch a new political party and returning Pakistan is a big challenge for Musharraf especially when Nawaz Sharif who has left no stone unturned in demoralizing the prestige of Musharraf and is trying to create hurdles in his way. He never wants that Musharraf should come to power again. However people have already tested two big political parties. Nawaz is only popular in Pakistan whereas Musharraf is a world recognized leader. Zardari’s popularity is decreasing day by day and people are now really fed up with the Pakistan People’s Party and Nawaz Sharif’s Muslim League. I believe this time the people of Pakistan will not support these parties for the best interest of Pakistan as people need food, clothes and shelter.
Pakistan political and economic situation is deteriorating day by day. Corruption is on the rise and extremism is mushrooming all over the country like a cancer. Religious extremists are fanning terrorism and such elements have only one objective that is to destabilize Pakistan. Other political leaders have no concern and they are busy in making money by leaps and bounds and buying bungalows in foreign countries. It is worth-mentioning that these so-called politicians have spent several years in jail on various charges and therefore now taking advantage of their being in the power are busy in grabbing and making wealth through unfair-means and they believe that there is no role for them in the future government.
In this situation, General Pervez Musharraf seems to be the only leader in Pakistan whose political history is free from charges of corruption. People despite his shortcomings want him in power as in the present circumstance to steer country out of present economic crises. After Musharraf, there is Imran Khan whose political career is free from corruption and people are hoping he could be a substitute in taking over the leadership of Pakistan. He is also struggling to strengthen his party. However, I would like to suggest Imran Khan to join the hands of Musharraf being one of the sensible political leaders in the country. If he does not join hands of Musharraf for any reasons he may lose this golden opportunity. It is high time for Imran Khan to shun the differences with Pervez Musharraf and strengthen his hands if he wants to show sincerity and loyalty to this country. Conversely he has no place in the future to play a significant role in Pakistani politics. If he joins Pervez Musharraf most probably he could the future Prime Minister of Pakistan while Musharraf can become the president.
In this scenario, the role of MQM cannot be ruled out being the third largest party in the country. It is no doubt that MQM also did many mistakes in the past but learned from its weaknesses. MQM’s manifesto is also pro-musharraf. Both Musharraf and Altaf Hussain are against of extremism in the country and consider it the main hurdle in way of economic development of the country. It is therefore high time for MQM to join the hands with Pervez Musharraf and play a significant role in the political scenario of the country. Being the largest party in Sindh the role of MQM cannot be denied and without taking this party into confidence no government can be successful. Let’s see how things are going to change in near future. However, it is said 2011 could be a crucial year for Pakistan.
At the moment, it is likely that Pakistan army may play an important role if the present crises are not over by the end of this year. Ultimately there is army in Pakistan which can take over the charge of the country when political and economic crises go beyond control. However majority of Pakistanis are still doubtful about army’s role in rectifying the present crises. However, the army’s role can be crucial despite fears among the people.
How Habits Change Your Life
Habits play a vital role in human life. With good and positive habits you can make your life in a more productive and beneficial way. Habits are not developed overnights but these come in human life during upbringing and from surrounding where a person lives in. Therefore it is important that children should be given good education and training so that they could develop positive habits in their life which ultimately affect their practical life. So habits are considered to be more important aspects of life in shaping the personality of a person.
Here are some tips which can improve a person’s personality:
Positive thinking
This is very important to think positively. Negative thinking can demoralize a human psychology which ultimately affects the performance of an individual. When a person thinks negatively and is pessimistic about life things really seem heavy on him. He falls into inferiority complex and loses stamina to cope with the difficulties of life. This attitude ultimately makes the individual unsuccessful in life.
Avoid Bad Company
A person is known by the company he keeps. So a good company is also very important in a person’s life as it moulds the life of an individual. Adopting bad company can ruin an individual’s personal life and the person becomes notorious in the society. So always adopt a good company where you could learn and enjoy the good things of life, who could share good information which could be helpful for your practical life. In a bad company an individual involves in addiction, use drugs and involves in other immoral activities and such people are used in the hands of black-sheep.
Moderation
Moderation is a very successful way to make life enjoyable. Without moderation one cannot improve his life style. Eat moderate, sleep moderate, spend moderate, be moderate in your beliefs and religious practice as extreme brings chaos in life whether it comes to eating, spending or performing duties etc.
Make a schedule
As you know everything in life happens according to its time schedule. Earth revolves around the sun in its scheduled time. Seasons change according to their time, then why a human being does not mould his life according to a schedule. Spending life without a schedule or a plan has no value. So try making a schedule of your life and live accordingly. Eat on time, sleep on time and take good care of your life in time before it is too late.
Read Healthy Books
One of healthy habits is reading interesting books and by developing this positive attitude your can bring about positive changes in your life. Read more books that previous year. Good books are like friends who put positive impact on your life. Avoid reading adult books which not only spoils your life but also demoralize your nature. Do not shun reading healthy books and get as much as information you like and change your life according to right path.
Physical Exercise
Physical exercise is the best way of life which not only improves your physical health but also brings you a healthy mind and positive thinking in your life. Make daily exercise and walk which makes your life easy and fit. This is also pertinent to remain physically fit. Drink plenty of water regularly and eat healthy food.
Learn etiquettes
This is most important to learn etiquettes as how to live in a society, how to behave and respond people in a good way. Showing rude attitude and arrogance spoils the prestige of a person. Speak gently, and show respect to everyone irrespective of age, cast and religion. Try to be humble as this will enhance your personality. Nature of a person is more important than beauty. Good etiquettes ads the beauty of a person.
If you follow the above given tips it is no doubt that you will be able to change your life in a productive way and you will also become a respectable citizen of society. Nothing is impossible in this world if you really intend to do as it is said, “Where there is a will there is a way”. So make up your mind to get a new start up from today without waiting for tomorrow as no one knows about tomorrow. We should not leave a negative image in our life when we leave this world and think about life which is for a short-time and make your life more enjoyable and avail the pleasures of life. Always learn to cash your small happiness. It is no doubt that life is full of hurdles and worries and a sensible person can cope with the difficulties boldly when he is positive and determined. Otherwise worries may overcome him before he could get rid of them.
Plastic Bags – A Menace to Environment
It is no doubt that plastic bags are part of our daily life and particularly shopping without plastic bags seem not possible. People use plastic bags when they buy even a minor or a single item but plastic bags on the other hand are spoiling the beauty of our environment. Environmental analyst term plastic bags a threat to environment. It is a matter of concern that people are not much aware of this menace and sometimes even educated people deliberately ignore this problem considering that nothing goes wrong if they use plastic bags. It is a fact that little drop make the occasion and if everyone takes into account their moral obligation and become serious in minimizing the use of plastic bags our planet can be saved from further damage. It is observed that people do not hesitate using plastic bags rather people have become much habitual of using plastic bags without understanding the consequences of this global menace.
There may be some sensible people who may have thought of environmental haphazard when using plastic bags. Eventually what will happen with plastic bags as these never perish like other papers? You can imagine that hundreds of plastic bags are heaped everyday in every household including other garbage. Our governments do not have not any proper planning or arrangement to replace plastic bags with alternatives and therefore lots of plastic bags seem to have littered on the roadsides and with the winds these used plastic bags float from one place to another polluting atmosphere. Polythene bags cause environmental pollution if they are not collected and disposed of properly. Leftover used plastic bags chock drainage systems and blot the landscape. The practice of burning them is also extremely harmful to human and animal health.
Everything is perishable except plastic which remain even for hundred years. People, shopkeepers and especially households instead of keeping them in a proper place throw these bags and litter etc in the street, roads or in sewerage lines which cause chocking pipes and water channels at various places. Consequently water starts gathering on roads creating problems for the people and vehicular traffic etc. How can we expect a better and clean environment for our new generation free from pollution? This menace needs to be overcome for the sake of our children’s future. Failing which the vegetation from the earth can gradually be vanished.
How can we make progress if we ignore such issues. I’m surprised of some educated people who even being educated pay no heed to this menace so how can we expect from illiterate people to clean the environment. Islam clearly gives importance to cleanliness rather it terms it a half faith. When we talk about cleanliness why we usually forget such important principles and instead we create problems for others. There is a need to create awareness about the consequences of pollution especially caused by plastic bags. This can be done though a campaign time and again on the electronic and print media and there should be no communication gaps in making people aware of the consequences. Using of plastic bags has become an alarming situation almost in every country. However governments are considering introducing alternatives but so far results have not come yet.
Whenever I go for shopping I take my own plastic bags and I urge people to minimize the use of plastic bags. Sometimes vendors get surprised on carrying my own plastic bags. I want to put this example for others to follow and avoid using of polythene bags as much as possible in order to protect the environment. Use of black plastic bags has already been banned which were too dangerous for the environment as well as for human beings. It is hoped that information about pollution and its consequence and ways and means to protect environment must be highlighted through print and electronic media and create awareness among the masses at all levels. Without involving communities results may not be fruitful. Likewise, NGOs and other community organizations can also play an important role in reducing pollution and its related issues though walks and seminars etc. Collective efforts should be made to save our environment from all forms of pollution which is spoiling our environment gradually. The use of plastic bags particularly in the developed countries is in great number and recycling of plastic bags is not very common in these countries. The entire countries of the world should need to ponder over this menace and impose a complete ban on using plastic bags to protect our environment and take necessary steps before it is too late.
Pakistan on the Brink of Chaos and Anarchy!
It is no doubt that corruption is all over the world but there are countries which can be considered the most corrupt countries and unfortunately Pakistan is also one of them. Pakistan is passing through a critical time. Law and order situation is deteriorating day by day and it seems Pakistan has plunged into chaos and anarchy.
On one side, Taliban have continued their activities on the pretext of taking revenge from the government for supporting the US army in Afghanistan and therefore they are killing innocent people without any discrimination. Hundreds of people have lost their lives in the hands of Taliban but their acts of terrorism are still going on. Their ultimate aim is apparently to destabilize Pakistan so that their tactics could succeed to establish their brand of Islam like previously in Afghanistan where they could impose Sharia and Islamic laws.
On the other hand, corruption in all government institutions and organizations seem to have reached at its top. The most prominent organizations – PIA, Steel Mills and Railway are said to have gone bank corrupted and according to experts it may take ages to overcome the losses. The most important aspect of the corruption is our inept government particularly Mr Zardari’s unpopular status day by day. People have lost trust in the present government all corrupt bureaucrats. One can imagine the condition of a fragile government where the credentials of half of its members have been declared fake. People are now left except a hope for a revolution like in France which could turn the fate of Pakistan. People are interested to see a big change in the country so that their grievances could be redressed. People have now different views and they want to see Pakistan a secularly state where everyone could practice their faith without any fear. Where as religious parties such as Jamat-e-Islami are supporting Taliban and other terrorists in way or other to continue their activities so that they could be able impose Sharia in the entire country but moderate people want a change without the support of Taliban and they want to see Pakistan a modern and developed country not a state of Taliban at any cost. Where as the moderate people are now hoping from the two main political leaders – Altaf Hussain and Imran Khan to get Pakistan rid of feudalism and injustice.
If (God forbid) Taliban captured the government it is obvious that they would ultimately push Pakistan into Stone Age. Pakistan’s 80% people are moderate but due to fear of religious extremism they cannot raise their voice publically and 20% extremists have made majority of Pakistanis hostage as they are doing all this with the name of Islam. The present government seems to be helpless and fail in resolving peoples’ problems and tackling extremism. Therefore Pakistan is facing through worse acts of Terrorism with every passing day in the hands of Taliban. The government is apparently striving with its fragile economy to steer the country out of the present financial crises and extremism but due to our corrupt politicians and so-called political leaders there seems to be no consensus and unanimity on any particular matter and extremists are taking advantage of this grim situation.
All the above facts ultimately contributed to reducing the living standard of people considerably. For instance, there is no control over price hike and therefore the prices of daily commodities are increasing with every passing day and they usually go unchecked. Fruit and vegetable items have gone out of reach of poor and even middle class people. Job opportunities have diminished as in the present situation no foreign investment is coming to Pakistan. Population of the country is rapidly increasing and the resources are getting limited. No one seems to be serious to overcome this menace which has not only crippled the economy of Pakistan but also caused increasing extremism.
The ongoing flooding in the country has supplemented the grievances of the people and made more than 20 million people homeless and the government has no proper planning for the rehabilitation of displaced people. Lot of donations are coming to Pakistan to help the affected people by flood but due to poor distribution system there is a probability that these donations do not reach to the needy people. People are struggling to cope with the situation with their own but how long will this last? Concrete steps are required to eradicate corruption and extremism. Failing to which tactics of Taliban and corrupt elements may up root the country and apparently it seems that a strong revolution is imminent to eliminate all corrupt leaders and politicians who are considered to be the bone of contention for all this menace and happenings in the country.
Nevertheless, people are still optimistic that Pakistan will get rid of the present uncertainty and chaos sooner or later!!
